This is an actual photo taken by one of our managers of a tire that came off a car he did an appraisal on. The customer believed that their tires were safe because they could only see the outside.
It’s just air right? Wrong.
The air pressure in your tire will actually change the shape of the tire on the road and can result in uneven wear patterns, as well as reduced grip on the road. The right tire pressure is on your door sill of your vehicle and something worth regularly checking.
Just because my tire has tread left it’s still good right? Wrong.
Unfortunately no. Tires have a best before date just like groceries. Over time the rubbers will lose the natural oils that keep the tires soft and when that happens they will dry out, crack, and ultimately become much more likely to blowout in case of a minor incident (like a bump in the road or a pothole).
Your tires are the only four things touching the road when your car is driving, making them one of the most important items keeping you and your family safe. Regularly having your tires looked at will only save you money and make you and your family safe on the roads.
